Supervertaler for memoQ

An AI translation engine that learns from the segments you confirm, a terminology provider that puts your glossary into memoQ's own pane and into the AI's prompt, and a companion window for everything memoQ gives a plugin no room for.

Coming soon. Supervertaler for memoQ is in testing against memoQ 12. It is covered by the same licence as Supervertaler for Trados – one subscription, both plugins. Follow along in Discussions to hear when it is released.

What it does

AI translation

Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, with your own API key and your own instructions.

  • Segment by segment as you move through the grid, or batched through Pre-translate
  • Inline tags survive the round trip through memoQ's own serialiser
  • Identical requests are answered from a cache, without a second call
  • Prompt caching: on a measured 370-segment run it turned roughly €10 into roughly €4

It learns from what you confirm

Every segment you confirm is captured, and the most relevant ones are shown to the model when it translates later segments of the same document.

  • Confirm electric module once and the rest of the document follows
  • No configuration, no retraining – your own approved choices, fed forward
  • Persisted to disk, so it survives closing memoQ

Terminology, in both places

A tab-separated glossary appears as a memoQ terminology provider, and the same terms reach the model.

  • Matched terms highlighted in the source, entries in Translation results
  • Forbidden terms are enforced rather than merely displayed
  • A glossary facing the wrong language pair is reported, not silently ignored

FigureLens

The AI reads your text and cannot see your pictures. FigureLens closes that gap.

  • Images out of the documents, described by the AI, saved where every prompt reads them
  • Vector drawings – what a CAD figure usually is – are rasterised on the way out
  • Reference signs visible in a drawing but absent from the text are listed for you

List numbering the grid never shows

Word generates the a), b), c) on the steps of a claim, so no CAT grid contains them – and neither did anything the AI received.

  • Read from the original document, counted exactly as Word renders it
  • Sent as structure the model may use and must never reproduce
  • Any marker echoed back is stripped before it reaches your target

Translate with Claude Desktop

An MCP server lets Claude – or any local MCP client – read the document you are translating and stage translations into the grid.

  • Tokens go on your Claude subscription rather than an API key
  • Every write into the document still goes through your own hands
  • Your confirmed segments, glossary and memory banks are readable to it

Context layers

An engine that sees only the current sentence translates that sentence well and the document badly. Every request assembles a fresh snapshot of your work – the segments you confirmed, your glossary, what you have recorded about the client, the numbering, the figures – and hands the whole thing to the AI.

Pricing

€20 a month, or €200 a year

One licence covers Supervertaler for Trados and Supervertaler for memoQ.

Use either, or both – there is no second subscription for working in a second tool. If you already subscribe for Trados, memoQ is included at no extra cost when it is released.

Pricing should never be a barrier. If these rates are a stretch – whether you are just starting out, based in a lower-income region, or going through a tough time – a reduced rate is available. Just get in touch and we will work something out.

Requirements

Installed as an add-in. Installation needs administrator rights, because memoQ keeps its add-ins under Program Files.

An API key, or Claude Desktop

Anthropic, OpenAI or Google for direct translation; or drive it from Claude Desktop on your existing subscription.

A Supervertaler licence

The same one that covers Trados. Nothing extra to buy.
